If you're experiencing severe stomach issues, it might be a good idea to talk to a doctor before taking any medication, including Pepto-Bismol. Better safe than sorry.
I had a friend who experienced hearing loss after taking Pepto-Bismol. It scared me, and I decided to avoid it after hearing their experience; I don't know if it was actually caused by the medicine, though.
