Petrolatum Ointment 454gm is the go-to solution for many of us dealing with dry skin, chapped lips, minor cuts, burns, and even diaper rash. This thick, greasy substance creates a barrier on the skin that locks in moisture and promotes healing. But it's not just about applying it; there's a science to it. Petrolatum is commonly used for these issues because it is waterproof and humectant free. However, it can also cause allergic reactions, so it is important to be aware of potential side effects. Allergic reactions can include symptoms like hives, itching, and swelling. Infections, fever, and abnormal bleeding could indicate a more serious problem. These symptoms often require immediate medical attention. Other side effects include skin irritation, which, while less severe, should still be monitored. Always consult a doctor if side effects persist or worsen. Reporting side effects to the FDA can also help in tracking and managing these issues effectively. Your doctor is available to provide guidance on managing side effects.

Serious to see so many side effects to be aware of. I guess its a bit of a double-edged sword. Its definitely worth it to use it if needed, but be aware of what to look for.

It can be greasy, but it's worth it for the moisture it locks in. I just apply it before bed and let it do its thing overnight.

Just a head's up, this stuff can also have ingredients that can disrupt gut health. Always keep it to your skin!.

Always good to know the signs of an allergic reaction, but I've never had an issue with it personally. It works great for me to keep my dry cheeks in check.

I used it on a minor burn and it really helped to speed up the healing process.

I've heard that applying a thin layer is better than a thick one. Curious what you all think?

I've used petrolatum on my chapped lips for years and never had a problem. Just don't lick it off before it soaks in lol.

Petrolatum ointment is amazing for my cracked heels. It took a bit longer than expected to get back to smooth skin, but it got there.

I've had some issues with all the unwanted side effects for me with an allergic reaction to petrolatum. Not fun. Be careful, it's a thick substance that can aggravate skin more than heal it. I have found moisturizers like Vaseline will be the safer bet.
