Pitocin 10u/mL Inj, 50mL: My experience with oxytocin for labor induction and postpartum care
I was given Pitocin during my labor induction and again postpartum to help with contractions. It was effective but it had a significant number side effects. I was curious about other people's experiences with Pitocin and wanted to start a discussion to share insights, for the people that may consider it and those looking for ways to cope with it.. What did your experience look like? What side effects did you have and how did you cope with them? Do you think that it was worth it in the end? I’d love to hear from anyone who has used Pitocin as well as from doctors and nurses who have worked with women who’ve used it.

I gave birth to three children with Pitocin. The first time I went through all the side effects. The second time I had a wonderful experience and the third time I ended up being allergic to it. It's strange considering that I had it before. I would say it's worth trying. You need to talk to your doctor but I would encourage you to give it a try.
I've given Pitocin to many patients and I've seen it work wonders. I always want it to work for my patients. I usually have to wait a while and then it'll work. The first dose is always a bit of a gamble. Side effects are rare but everyone is different. It's worth a try.
Pitocin is Oxytocin, a naturally occurring hormone, so it's not all that different. I was scared it would have a bunch of side effects but aside from really intense contractions. I felt horrible until I gave birth. The contractions were awful and I was horrified. I wanted to get that baby out and Pitocin helped in that. My bad side effects came postpartum.
I had Pitocin with my second child and it was a much different experience. The first time, it didn't quite work and I ended up needing a C-section. The second time, I was a little more nervous but it worked beautifully and I got to have a vaginal delivery.
I had Pitocin twice and both times it gave me terrible headaches. It was almost as bad as the contractions.
My midwife said Pitocin is the worst because it causes contractions that are too strong and long, but it’s also the best because it gives you a break.
I was induced with Pitocin and I had a super fast labor. I think it made the contractions more intense but it didn't work as well because I had to wait for it. It was like stopping and starting. It was like I was on a rollercoaster. My baby was perfect so in the end I was glad for the Pitocin.
I've always wondered how Pitocin works, is it like some kind of hormone that the body naturally secreted but not enough? I was curious because it always worked for me. It helped with the labor. The contractions were intense but then the pain would stop and I would get a little break. It was truly a godsend.
