I've been prescribed Polycin Ophthalmic Ointment for a bacterial eye infection. The doctor mentioned it contains Bacitracin and Polymyxin B. Does anyone have experience with this medication? I'm particularly concerned about the potential side effects. I read about allergic reactions and eye irritation — how common are these? Any tips on how to manage or mitigate these side effects? Also, what is the best way to apply this ointment and how frequently should I use it?

I've been using it for a few days now and it seems to be working, but I'm not sure if I should expect any noticeable improvements soon or if I should wait longer. I'd appreciate any insights or advice from those who have used Polycin Ophthalmic Ointment before.

The best way to apply the ointment is to use a sterile applicator. Remember to pull down the lower eyelid gently and if you experience any irritation after application, talk to your doctor about it. You should feel better after the first few days.

I’m curious about the best practices when applying the ointment—for instance, should you apply it before bed or is there a different schedule? Also, how soon should you start to see improvements in your eye infection?

I guess it depends on what kind of infection you have, but I put it in my eye 3 or 4 times a day and it cleared up pretty quickly.

I used it for a eye infection and it was a game-changer. However, I did get some eye irritation initially but it faded and went away. Keep applying even if it seems painful - it should clear out the infection.

I've used Polycin for a similar issue and it worked great. Just make sure to apply a thin layer across the lower eyelid. This will help avoid blurring your vision and ensure the ointment covers the affected area well. I didn't experience any serious side effects, just some mild irritation that went away after a few days. If you have any concerns, it's best to consult your doctor.

I had a bad reaction to this stuff. Make sure you're not allergic to any of the ingredients, and if you start feeling really ill or your eyes get super irritated, go to the ER right away. It's not worth risking your health.

My doc said to use it 3 times a day. Follow the prescription and ask your doctor if you're unsure.
