Has anyone experienced severe side effects from Prilosec 2.5mg Granules (for Susp)? I have been administering to my 5 year old who has acid reflux and I am worried about some side effects. I know Prilosec is commonly used, but I'd love to hear from others who have used this medication, especially in its granular form. Can anyone provide insights into the side effects, particularly the severe and potentially life-threatening ones? I want to be prepared and vigilant, especially since my child is still young. I also have questions regarding the lesser-known side effects, such as electrolyte imbalances and skin reactions. Does anyone have personal experiences or medical advice to share?

Be very careful if you notice any signs of an allergic reaction. My daughter didn't have the usual symptoms, but she started to exhibit a strange rash and her breathing became difficult. We rushed her to the hospital and she was fine, but that was a close call.

The granules were a lifesaver for my son who couldn’t swallow pills. But do be aware that it can interfere with some antibiotics and other prescriptions. Also there is a chance of bacteria overgrowth, so keep an eye out for that.

Prilosec saved my life. My doctor prescribed it to me for severe acid reflux, and it has done wonders for me. I never experienced any severe side effects, but I did have some mild stomach aches and nausea. However, it's important to note that everyone's body responds differently to medication.

I think the FDA is constantly updating its guidelines and warnings. But what I know is that it’s important to report any side effects to them. They have a special form on their website, so don’t hesitate to do that if something comes up.

Has anyone tried other forms of omeprazole? I’m wondering if the granules are easier to administer than the pills, especially for kids.

I wish I had a better experience with Prilosec. My daughter had some pretty severe skin reactions when we started giving her the granules. We had to stop immediately and seek medical attention. It was scary, but luckily, she recovered quickly.

I think it’s best to monitor your child closely for any signs of severe side effects. If you notice something unusual, trust your instincts and seek medical help. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

Just make sure to store it properly. It needs to be refrigerated after opening. Or, you can keep it at room temperature for up to 30 days. The pharmacist mentioned that, if kept in the fridge, it could last for up to 4 weeks. But it has to be mixed with water before administration.

My kid gets really fussy with the taste. We learned to mask the flavor with a bit of fruit juice or something sweet. But the reactions were never severe.

I know it can be terrifying to see your child go through any side effects. Just remember that most kids tolerate it well, and the benefits often outweigh the risks. But always keep an eye on them. Stay calm, and if in doubt, call the doctor.
