I was recently prescribed Procardia XL (osm) 30mg Tablets for high blood pressure and chest pain. The medicine is an extended-release calcium channel blocker, which means it releases the drug slowly over 24 hours. I've been taking it for about a month now and wanted to share my experience. Initially, I felt some dizziness and fatigue, but it subsided after a week. I also noticed some flushing, but it was manageable. Overall, it seems to be doing a good job of controlling my blood pressure. Has anyone else had a similar experience with this medication? Are there any side effects you've had concerns about?

I wish doctors would be more open about the side effects. I had to google it to find out what could happen. Do they want us to be surprised or just don't want to scare us?

I've been on it for a few months; I didn't get serious side effects but I did have some allergic reactions. Never had an allergic reaction to even food and suddenly I was having hives and itching. It was strange. I went to the doctor and they adjusted my allergy medication and it got better.

For those experiencing side effects, make sure to call your doctor. Don't just suffer through it. They can help you figure out if it's worth sticking with the medication or if there's another option for you. Seriously, don't be like me and just assume it'll go away on its own. I was miserable for a while because I didn't want to bother my doctor.

I felt pretty shaky and had muscle cramps when I started, but it settled down after a while. It's worth sticking it out if you can.
