I was recently prescribed Questran Powder (cholestyramine) to manage my high cholesterol levels. The doctor explained it works by binding to bile acids in my intestines, which forces my liver to use more cholesterol to make new bile acids, effectively lowering the 'bad' cholesterol (LDL-C) in my blood. I've been taking it for a couple of weeks now and have noticed some positive changes, but also a few side effects. I've also heard it can help with itching from liver conditions, which I find interesting. I just wonder how long it will take to see significant results. I've read about the potential side effects, including severe constipation and allergic reactions, but I'm hoping to avoid those. Has anyone else tried this medication? What was your experience like, especially with the side effects? Any tips on managing the constipation or other issues would be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know if it really helps with itching from liver issues?

I read that Questran can be good for people with liver issues, specifically for relieving itching. Has anyone else heard about this? I wonder how much help that part actually is. For me, the constipation really bums me out, but I’m managing it with more water and fiber.

I was about to start Questran but I was worried about the constipation. I’ve heard it can be pretty bad. Has anyone found a good way to manage it? I’ve been using fiber supplements for a while and will test out Questran at the same time.

I tried Questran but couldn’t stand the taste. Ended up switching to a different cholesterol medication. Anyone else have this issue? Also, does anyone know if it’s supposed to help with itching caused by liver problems? I’ve always been curious about this.

My doctor prescribed me Questran, and I have mixed feelings. I’ve read about the side effects and my doctor said allergic reactions are rare but it can be scary. I’m not sure what to expect and want to hear from other users. Does anyone have any general tips or advice?

I've been on Questran for a few months now, and it's been a mixed bag. My cholesterol levels have improved, but the constipation has been a real pain. I've had to switch up my diet and use stool softeners just to manage it.
