I was recently prescribed Quinapril/HCTZ 10-12.5mg tablets for high blood pressure and I'm looking for advice from others who have taken this medication. I've read about the possible side effects, especially the urgent ones, and it has me a bit worried. I'm particularly concerned about the severe allergic reactions and kidney problems. I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience with this medication. How often do side effects occur, and how well does it work for managing blood pressure? Any insights or tips for managing potential side effects would be greatly appreciated.

I've been on Quinapril/HCTZ for about a year now. The first month was tough with some dizziness and headaches, but it got better. My blood pressure is much more controlled now. Make sure to stay hydrated, as the diuretic can dehydrate you quickly.

I switched to this from lisinopril because my doc said it would be more effective for my case. My blood pressure is better managed, but yes, the dizziness sucks at first. Also, keep an eye on your potassium levels.

I was worried about the kidney problems. I had a few blood tests done, and everything checked out fine. I guess the risk depends a lot on your personal health situation, so talk to your doc if you're concerned.

Is it just me or does this drug make you really tired? I struggle to stay awake after taking it. I'm not sure if it's a side effect or just my body adjusting.

The best way to handle the dizziness is just to get up slowly from a sitting or lying position. It can be annoying but it helps to mitigate the severity.

Stay positive and monitor your blood pressure regularly. It's worth it if it keeps your blood pressure under control. As far as I know, it's not a one-size-fits-all drug but tends to work well for most people.

I’m on this medication too and I hate the persistent cough! Be sure to talk to your doctor if any side effect really bothers you. They might adjust the dosage or switch you to a different drug.

I had a pretty severe reaction to this med: a persistent cough. It took a while to figure it out. If you get a cough that won't go away, this might be the cause. Always worth a talk to your doctor.

Be careful with the sun. This class of drugs can make you more sensitive to UV rays. Started wearing sunscreen and a hat, and it helped a lot with reducing the heat-related side effects. Doesn't seem like it's on the label but wearing sun protection sometimes makes a huge difference.
