I'm scheduled for an X-ray and my doctor prescribed Readi-Cat 2 Berry Susp 450ml. I've never had to take this before, and I'm curious about what to expect. The description says it coats the inside of your digestive tract and shows up white on the scan, but I wonder how it actually works and what the experience is like. Has anyone taken this before? What were your side effects? Anything I should be aware of? Would love to hear from someone who's been through this.

I drank some before my CT scan and it was awful. It was thick and difficult to get down. But it was also easy to finish the entire thing. It was better to get it over with quickly.

I’ve had it twice now and the only thing that bothers me is the urgency to go to the bathroom right after drinking it while you are at a doctors office. I am not a fan of going to the bathroom in public, especially at an office. The taste is not bad, but the urgency to go to the bathroom is hard to ignore.

I had a severe allergic reaction to barium sulfate once. It's rare, but if you start feeling weird (rashes, severe stomach pain, trouble breathing), get to a doctor immediately. I had to go to the ER, and let me tell you, it wasn't fun.

It's supposed to help with diagnosing issues in the digestive tract, right? I knew it was an X-ray contrast but I didn't realize it was for the intestines as well. Thanks for sharing the details!

I had to take this for my colonoscopy prep. It was bad. I had some stomach cramps that lasted for a few days. Luckily, I didn't have any severe side effects. If I do another colonoscopy, I will be prepared.
