I started using Retin-A Micro 0.1% Gel about 3 months ago to treat my acne, and I've had a mix of good and bad experiences. Initially, I noticed a significant improvement in my skin texture and reduction in breakouts. However, I've also dealt with some unpleasant side effects like dryness, redness, and occasional flaking. I've stuck with it because I've heard it takes time to build up tolerance and see real results, but I'm wondering if others have had similar experiences. Is it worth pushing through the initial irritation for the long-term benefits? I've also been considering mixing this with other treatments and would like to know if anyone else has combined Retin-A with Vitamin C or other topicals for better results. What are your experiences and recommendations? What did you do to combat the initial side effects?

I think everyone's experience with Retin-A is different. I started with the 0.025% and moved up to 0.1% after a few weeks. I've seen a huge improvement in my acne and have not experienced any severe side effects. Do not start with the higher strength as the side effects might discourage you from continuing.

I heard that retinol (a weaker derivative) can cause similar issues and the side effects are similar, with the notable difference being the strength.

Be careful with mixing it with other treatments. I accidentally used it with benzoyl peroxide and my skin freaked out. Red as a tomato and peeling like crazy. I'll stick to one powerful treatment at a time.

I'm in my 30s and started Retin-A for wrinkles and acne scarring. I used to use Proactiv years ago and I never saw results. Also, I like using the same Retin-A cream in the morning but skip moisturiser and sunscreen.

I've been using Retin-A for about 6 months now, and it's been a game-changer for my acne. The first few weeks were rough, with a lot of redness and flaking, but it got better. I started with every other day, then gradually increased. Combine the treatment with a good moisturiser and sunscreen. Be patient, it's worth it.

I always wondered why they recommend starting with a lower percentage. I started with the 0.1% and my face was on fire for a week. Doctor told me to stop for a while and wait for my skin to adjust, then restart with the lower percentage and work my way up.

Glad you mentioned the sunscreen! I forgot to use it one day and paid the price with a nasty burn.

I'm on week 2 and my skin is so dry it's like the Sahara out there. Any tips for dealing with this?
