I've been prescribed Rocephin 10gm Inj for a severe skin infection. I've read the list of side effects and I'm terrified. Has anyone else had experience with this? Are the side effects really as bad as they sound? Are there any tips for dealing with an IV injection?

I had a mild rash and upset stomach but nothing major. As long as your doctor is monitoring you, you'll be fine.

I'm an ER nurse, Rocephin is great but the side effects are real. I can tell you that the flu-like symptoms are the worst. Make sure to hydrate a lot!

I had it for meningitis in college. I remember feeling really sleepy and confused. But it saved my life, so... worth it.

Why were you on 10 grams atm? That seems like it's some sort of mega dose. You want to get that checked out.

I had Rocephin for pneumonia. It was intense, but I didn't get any of the crazy side effects. Best of luck!

I'd be more worried about the infection than the antibiotic. Yeah, it's intense, but it should do the job! I'd definitely ask your doctor for tips on dealing with the injection.

I got the worst diarrhea and stomach cramps. Gave up on it and went for oral antibiotics.
