I was recently prescribed Saxaglip/metformin ER 5mg-1000mg for my type 2 diabetes. I've seen a lot of worry about side effects online, so I'm wondering if anyone else has experience with this medication. How have you dealt with side effects like upsets, pancreatitis, or others? My doctor gave me a lot of info about possible side effects, so I am looking for real-life experiences to complement that knowledge. What worked for you? How did you manage them? What foods do you eat? Which activities have you adjusted? Let's talk about it!

I had a really bad allergic reaction when I started taking it. My throat felt tight and I had hives everywhere. I went to the ER immediately and they told me to stop taking it right away. It was scary, but I'm glad I acted quickly. Now I'm on a different medication. Contact your doctor if you have anything like that.

I had a UTI while on this medication, and it was a nightmare. I had to go to the doctor and get antibiotics. Make sure to stay hydrated and be aware of the symptoms. I was feeling tired and weak, with pain in my lower stomach, and then the fever. That's when I knew something was wrong.

I've been on this medication for a year now, and I've had no major side effects. I did have some diarrhea initially, but it stopped after a few days. Just make sure to take it exactly as prescribed and monitor your blood sugar levels regularly. And drink plenty of water.

I switched to Saxaglip/metformin ER and my blood sugar levels have been more stable. I had some joint pain at first, but it went away after a few weeks. Make sure to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.

Oh boy, the gas... I thought I was going to float away! But seriously, it's been manageable. Just make sure to chew your food well and eat smaller meals. Also, probiotics have helped a lot.

Just started this med. Any tips on dealing with the stomach issues?

Hey, I've had a great experience. I was prescribed this medication and my A1C levels have dropped significantly. The side effects weren't great at the beginning but now I barely notice them.

Have any of you experienced pancreatitis? I've heard it can be serious. I'm a little worried about that.

I've been on this combo for about 6 months now. The first few weeks were rough with stomach issues, but it's gotten much better. I take it with food and that helps a lot.

I've had a few episodes of low blood sugar, which was scary at first. I've learned to carry glucose tablets with me at all times. Just be aware of the symptoms and act quickly. It's all about balance.
