I had to use this during a severe flare-up of my autoimmune condition. The worst part was the difficulty sleeping. This is a powerful drug, so definitely keep an eye out for those urgent side effects.
I had a horrible rash that turned out to be an allergic reaction to Solu-Cortef. Seek medical help right away if something like that happens to you. It wasn't fun at all.
I've taken Solu-Cortef a few times for severe asthma attacks. The most noticeable side effect for me was increased appetite and weight gain. But honestly, I was just glad it worked to keep me breathing. Talk to your doctor about monitoring your blood sugar and potassium levels, too.
I had a friend who had severe mood changes while on this. It was scary, but she managed it with the help of her doctor. Just be aware that it can happen, and communicate openly with your healthcare provider.
I was really worried about the high blood sugar side effects since I already have a history of diabetes. But luckily, I didn't experience any severe issues with blood sugar. I did get some weight gain and increased appetite, though, which was annoying.
