I've recently been prescribed Gemcitabine 1gm Inj, 26.3ml for my cancer treatment. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by the potential side effects and wanted to hear from others who have gone through this. How did you manage the side effects? Were there any that you found particularly challenging to deal with and what advice do you have? Additionally, I'm curious about the injection process and how it's administered. If anyone can share their experience with the injection process, that would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for any advice or support to help me through this journey.

Y'all need to get a nice blanket and some good TV shows. I turned into a Netflix junkie during treatment and it really helped pass the time. And the nurse was the best. I joked around with her and she made the process way less stressful.

Not to be alarmist, but be very attentive. I had a friend who had a severe allergic reaction during treatment. It was terrifying, but thankfully, the medical staff acted quickly and he was okay. Know the signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction and have emergency contact info handy.

The swelling was the worst part for me. I had to wear special compression stockings to help manage it. It was a pain, but it helped a lot. Just be patient and work with your doctor to find the best solution for you.

Just a quick heads up, be prepared for some hair loss. It was one of the more noticeable side effects I experienced, but it was temporary and manageable.

Keep an eye on your blood sugar levels. I had a friend who experienced high blood sugar during treatment and didn't realize it until he was in the ER. Now he's got a glucose meter at home and checks regularly. It’s scary how that can sneak up on you.

I had some weird tingling in my hands and feet. It was disorienting at first, but my doctor said it was pretty common. Just make sure to report any unusual sensations to your healthcare provider.

I had to deal with some pretty bad flu-like symptoms. It felt like I had the flu for a week straight. But, my doctor prescribed some meds that helped take the edge off. Just be prepared for that possibility. The other side effects were manageable, but the flu-like symptoms were a bit rough.

I know it's tough, but try to stay positive. I found that focusing on small goals helped me get through the treatment. Like, ‘today, I'm going to walk around the block’ or ‘today, I'm going to read a chapter of a book.’ It made the days feel more manageable and gave me something to look forward to.
