I've been prescribed morphine for severe pain management after a recent surgery in the hospital. The nurse mentioned it's given via injection, normally in a hospital setting. This is my first time with an opioid like morphine and I have some serious concerns about all the side effects I've read about. Anyone else have experience with morphine sulfate injections? I want to know if it is as bad as it seems. The list of side effects is terrifying and I am very concerned. And I have to report side effects to the FDA otherwise!

I found that mixing it with strong coffee helps with the drowsiness. Always better to stay alert when you’re hurting.

I had hearings about a guy who developed adrenal gland problems after long-term opioid use. It's scary stuff, so always talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits.

I think it’s crucial to have someone with you when you're first using morphine, just in case of any serious side effects.

I wish I knew about the breathing difficulties earlier. It's something you need to be really aware of especially when you use it for the first time.

Morphine is a powerful painkiller but can be really tough on the body. I had to use it after a bad accident and the side effects were no joke. I felt dizzy and slow all the time, and the constipation was awful. But it did help with the pain.

I had morphine when I was in the hospital for a bad injury. The doctors monitored me closely because of the risk of respiratory issues, which is why it's usually given in a hospital setting. They also measured my blood sugar regularly because of the risk of low blood sugar

Wow, it's definitely a strong pain medication. Just be careful with the dosage, it's easy to get dependent on it.

I felt really spaced out the whole time I was on morphine. Like, I couldn't even hold a conversation sometimes. But it got the job done for the most part.

I had I think serotonin syndrome after combining morphine with another medication. It was terrifying—fever, rapid heartbeat, muscle twitching. I had to go to the ER.

Seriously, don't mix this with other medications. I had a friend who got caught with serotonin syndrome and it was a nightmare.
