Shared Experiences & Tips: Niacin 500mg SR Capsules for Cholesterol Management
Has anyone here tried Niacin 500mg SR Capsules for managing cholesterol levels? I've been prescribed this medication and I'm curious to hear about other people's experiences. Did you notice significant improvements in your cholesterol levels? What side effects did you encounter, if any, and how did you manage them? Specifically, I'm interested in hearing about any tips or tricks to deal with flushing, as I've heard that can be quite uncomfortable. Also, are there any helpful strategies for taking these capsules during night to avoid dizziness? How did your doctor address these concerns? Thanks in advance for sharing your insights!

I've been on Niacin SR for about 6 months now, and it's been a game-changer for my cholesterol levels. My LDL and triglycerides have dropped significantly, and my HDL has gone up. The flushing was brutal at first, but taking aspirin 30 minutes before my niacin dose really helped. I also make sure to take it with food to minimize stomach upset. Give it a few weeks, and your body should adjust. If you're planning to take these capsules during night, get up slowly to avoid dizziness, and keep some water by your bed.
Awww, poor you!
I've been on these for a year now, and the only side effect I get is flushing. I take aspirin before my dose, and it's manageable. My cholesterol levels are much better, so it's worth it for me.
I've found that the controlled-release formula really helped with the flushing compared to the immediate-release version. Plus, the gastrointestinal side effects have been minimal.
