I've been taking Sinemet 25-250mg tablets for about six months now to manage my Parkinson's disease. I've found that it helps with my motor symptoms, but I've also experienced some side effects like dizziness and nausea. I'm curious to hear from others who are taking Sinemet—what side effects have you encountered, and how do you manage them? Additionally, I'd love to know if anyone has tips for minimizing these side effects or if you've talked to a doctor or pharmacist about them. Has anyone experienced sleepiness and what did you do to mitigate this?

That's useful to know. I tend to eat a light breakfast, but I've had the worst nausea on an empty stomach. This is a solid plan to try to get rid of it.

I'm so glad I found this thread. I'm about to start Sinemet and was really nervous about the side effects. It's reassuring to hear that others are managing them and improving their quality of life.

There are a lot of side effects for sure, but Sinemet is still the most effective treatment for me. I try to be as open as possible with my doctor regarding these side effects so we can make adjustments periodically as this medication is life-changing. If you’re experiencing issues, please talk to your doctor.

That sounds rough. My brother had something similar, and his doctor recommended a physical therapy program. It might be worth talking to your healthcare provider about!

I've noticed that my hands sometimes twitch uncontrollably when I first start feeling effects. Has anyone else experienced that? I kind of just wait it out and if it gets really bad, I try to sleep.

I've been on Sinemet for about a year, and the worst part for me has been the sudden sleepiness. I can't drive anymore because of how unpredictable it is. It's frustrating, but I'm glad I found a medication that makes life with Parkinson's manageable.
