Sharing Experiences and Warnings: Seroquel XR 300mg Tablets
I've been on Seroquel XR 300mg Tablets for a few months now, and while it has helped manage my bipolar disorder, I've also experienced some concerning side effects. Has anyone else had issues with severe dizziness or fainting? I'm trying to figure out if this is normal or if I should talk to my doctor about adjusting my dose. I've also gained a bit of weight, which is frustrating, but I know it's a common side effect. What strategies have others found helpful for managing this? Also, I've heard about tardive dyskinesia from the docs, but it doesn't make much sense to me, I would like to know more about the risk of muscle problem, is it really that bad? Let's share our experiences and support each other!

We all know tardive dyskinesia is not a joke, the involuntary movements are not something you can just live with. I've met people who have been ruined by this. Stay alert of the symptoms and talk to your doctor if you see anything!
Dizziness is a big issue for me too, and I've had to switch to a different medication because of it. It's not worth risking a fall or something worse. I would talk to your doctor about it. Also, have you tried any supplements or changes in diet to combat the side effects?
How about a joke to lighten the mood? Why don't psychiatrists play cards in the jungle? Because there are too many CHEETAHS! Ok, enough joking. My serious advice would be to keep a side effects diary. It helps to keep track and then you can present it to the doctor in an organized manner, it really helps.
On the other hand, some of the side effects like drooling or seizure are terrifying, but I've been on this for a year and haven't experienced those. Fingers crossed, it stays that way! Besides, I've noticed that some of the side effects like drooling or seizure are terrifying, you can use a slightly older version of the drug which has less of these side effects. Drooling is a common problem with the extended release ones.
Yes, absolutely. But also, medication is not an easy decision. Each has it's a set of side effects, and you are stuck deciding what is worse for you. It's not an easy decision and it's not easy to decide what is worse. In this case you are choosing between either blah and blah. I think it's good to be aware of the side effects and to make an informed decision, but you should not be scared. You can do it if you really want to.
Be careful with the dizziness. I had it bad and it turned out to be something more serious. I would definitely talk to your doctor about that. Weight gain happens, but it's not fun. I gained like 20 pounds in the first 6 months, but I've been able to manage it with a good diet. I feel a lot better now. Don't ignore the weight gain issue, because it can become a real problem. And btw, I found that eating smaller meals throughout the day helps with the stomach pain. Small victories!
I completely agree with the previous poster. Mental illness is something that needs to be taken seriously and not just shrugged off with a pill. It is a complicated problem and needs to be handled by professionals. Sure, medication can help, but it is not the ultimate solution. I am also worried, how will I know if the dose I'm on is good enough? A higher dose can cause more problems. I need to be sure.
