My doctor prescribed Fragmin 18,000iu/0.72ml Inj after my recent surgery. I'm wondering if anyone else has used this medication and what their experiences have been. I'm particularly interested in knowing how effective it is for preventing blood clots and if there are any side effects I should be aware of. Has anyone had irritations at the injection site? Or anything more serious? What are your thoughts?
The urgent side effects list is a bit scary, how often do these really occur? Is this something I need to really worry about?

I had a hell of a time with Fragmin. I got some really nasty bruising from the injections, but it was worth it to avoid clots.
I'm on Fragmin, and it’s been okay so far. No major side effects, but the injection sites can be a bit sore. Just take it easy and follow the doctor's instructions. Nothing too bad if you're mindful.
I used Fragmin after my knee surgery and it was a lifesaver. No blood clots, but I did get some irritation at the injection site. My doctor said it's common and to just apply some ice. If you can handle a little discomfort, it's worth it.
I have been using Fragmin for months and so far so good. I use it for cancer treatment and my doctor says it's a good preventative measure. No irritations or side effects, but I've an unusual tolerance to medication.
Make sure you're administering it correctly — I had a nurse show me the technique. It's a pretty deep shot so you have to do it right or you'll get some serious irritation. Not fun. But if you do it right, it's not bad.
