I was recently prescribed Lonsurf 15mg/6.14mg Tablets 20s for my advanced colon cancer. I've heard a lot about the potential side effects, so I'm looking for some community support and advice. Has anyone else taken this medication? What were your experiences and how did you manage the side effects? I'm particularly worried about the more serious side effects like infections and bleeding. I'd appreciate any tips on how to handle common issues like fatigue, nausea, and diarrhea. Thanks in advance for any shared stories or guidance.

I have been on Lonsurf for 6 months. Its effective but I lost my hair in the first month. I was mentally prepared for it, but it still hits you hard. I’d recommend getting a wig if you can. The biggest thing was the nausea, but anti-nausea meds helped a lot. Also, the taste changes were wild—everything tasted like metal! Just be prepared for a lot of adjustments.

I had to switch off Lonsurf because of the electrolyte issues. My doctor said it's rare, and I was unlucky. It turns out my body couldn’t handle the drug. Just keep an eye out for any abnormal symptoms and talk to your doctor immediately.

I actually found the hair loss to be the easiest part to deal with. The mental fog and fatigue were way worse.

I had a friend who took Lonsurf and they managed to stay positive throughout. The side effects were tough, but the support network she had made all the difference. It's all about mindset and support, I think.

Serious question: how do you handle the mouth sores? I've heard they can be pretty awful.

Stick with the soft foods and avoid anything too spicy or acidic. My doctor recommended a topical anesthetic for when it gets really bad. It's tough, but you can get through it. Just take it one day at a time.
