I've been on Olanzapine/fluoxetine (Symbyax) 12-50mg Caps for a few months now, managing my bipolar depression. So far, it's been a lifesaver, but I've had some challenges that I’d like to talk about and compare with others. Following the doctor's directions, I skipped the combination with alcohol, but I’ve had a hard time with the side effects of weight gain and dry mouth. On the flip side, my mood has stabilized, and I’m getting my life back. I still have questions about managing side effects, though, and would love to hear from others who've been on this combination for a bit longer.

I went to an herbalist to boost my immunity because I was worried about the low white blood cell count side effect. I'm not sure if it helped, but I felt better knowing I did something proactive.

I've been on it for a year - the side effects were rough at first: drowsiness, dizziness, and shakiness were pretty brutal. The worst part for me was the bloating and even a little weight gain, but it got way better after a few months. Just wondering if anyone else has tried adding a different diet or food into their daily routine to combat it?

I had a really hard time with fluoxetine, and now I’m taking this combo. It's like a whole new world, thanks to the few. Really appreciate the added antipsychotic for my mood swings. The main side effects for me are extreme drowsiness and shakiness and memory loss - nothing I can't handle though.

Try chewing on sugar-free gum, it helps with the dry mouth! Plus, it gives you something to do with your hands when you're feeling anxious

People with normal immune systems are at low to moderate risk for infection. Every year, the FDA approves high-powered drugs like this. If you're healthy, you're okay.

This med changed my life. I was on the verge of giving up before I started taking it, and now I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. The side effects were tough, but totally worth it.

This sounds like a nightmare. I'd rather deal with the depression than put up with side effects like that. Kudos to you guys for sticking it out though, it's tough

I've been on Symbyax for over a year now, and while the side effects were rough at first, they've mostly subsided. The weight gain was definitely a struggle, but I've started a new diet and exercise routine that's helped a lot. I also found that drinking lots of water helped with the dry mouth. It's been a game-changer for my bipolar depression.

I was so scared of the side effects, but they've honestly been manageable. I just wish I didn't have to deal with the dry mouth. It's really hard to keep my lips moisturized. Anyone have any tips for dealing with this?
