I've been taking Microgestin 1/20 FE Tabs 28s for a few months now, and I've had a pretty good experience overall with it. I think the iron pills at the end of the pack are a great addition, as I've struggled with anemia in the past. However, I have noticed some changes in my menstrual cycles, including spotting between periods. I've also experienced some mild mood swings, but nothing too severe. I'm curious if anyone else has had similar experiences or has advice on managing these side effects. I'm also wondering if anyone has had to switch from this birth control due to side effects and if so, what they switched to? Additionally, how many of you noticed any changes in your skin? I've been noticing some dark spots on my face. I’m trying to figure out if sun protection is really necessary even on cloudy days. I’ve always lived in a sunny area but haven’t had issues like this before.

With all of these scary symptoms, I just want to say girls, don’t be afraid to call your doctor.

I had to switch from Microgestin because of severe mood swings. It was awful—one minute I was fine, the next I was in tears. I switched to a different birth control and it’s been much better. I would advise talking to your doctor if you're experiencing mood changes. It's not worth the headache on top of the stress of having to deal with unexpected medicinal issues.

A friend of mine had to go to the ER because of blood clots. It was really scary. But this was rare right?

I’ve noticed some skin changes as well, but I think it’s mostly because of the change in hormones. I’ve been using a good moisturizer and sunscreen, and it seems to be helping. I’m crossing my fingers that it evens out soon.
