I just got my first dose of Spikevax 12+ (COVID 2024-25) 0.5ml. The process was straightforward, but I'm a bit concerned about the potential side effects. I've heard stories from others who had mild symptoms, but I've also read about the rare but serious side effects. I had a bit of a headache and muscle aches in the past, so I'm wondering if this will be worse. Has anyone else had significant side effects? How long did they last? What was the most helpful remedy for dealing with them?

I work in healthcare and have seen a few cases of more severe reactions, like shortness of breath and rapid heartbeat. If you experience anything like that, go to the ER immediately. Better safe than sorry.

I didn't have any side effects at all. Just a little swelling at the injection site. Maybe I'm lucky or maybe the vaccine is just that safe for some people. Fingers crossed for you!

Have you reported your side effects to VAERS? It's important to keep track of these things. I reported mine and felt better knowing I was contributing to the data. Also, the V-safe tool is really handy for tracking symptoms over time. It’s a little bit like a vaccine diary and really easy to use. I’m so much more relaxed since I got confirmed I didn’t have any of the rare side effects.

Is it normal to have a decreased sense of touch after the vaccine? I felt like my arm was numb for a couple of days after the shot.

I had a friend who had a severe allergic reaction after the first dose. They had to go to the hospital and get treated with epinephrine. It was scary, but they're fine now. Just be aware of the signs and make sure you're somewhere safe after getting the vaccine.

I'm really glad I got the vaccine, even with the side effects. It's worth it to know I'm protected. Just make sure to stay hydrated and rest if you can. You can do it!
