I recently started using Levoleucovorin 250mg/25ml Sdv, 25ml as part of my cancer treatment. It's been a bit of a rollercoaster. I understand it helps protect healthy cells and makes fluorouracil work better, but the side effects are tough. Has anyone else experienced issues with mouth sores and know a good remedy?

I'm on my fourth round and keep getting mouth sores that won't heal. I know it's a common side effect, but it's really affecting my quality of life. I've tried various mouth rinses and pain relievers, but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else had better luck with a different approach, or found any tips to cope with other annoying side effects?

I'd appreciate any advice or support anyone can offer.

I found that eating soft foods and staying away from anything that could irritate my mouth. I also found that using a soft toothbrush and being gentle with my teeth and gums helped a lot. I also tried rinsing my mouth with a solution of baking soda and salt, which helped to reduce the irritation and inflammation. I used a mixture of 1 tablespoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of baking soda, and 1 quart of warm water.

I used levoleucovorin during my treatment and I didn’t experience mouth sores. I did have other side effects like diarrhea, nausea and a lot of fatigue. I remember it was awful, but things got better after the treatment was over.

I'm impressed by your positivity in the darkest hour. It's not easy, but I’m sure you'll get through this.

Levoleucovorin has been a lifesaver for me. I'm still fighting some nausea, but nothing unbearable. Hang in there, friend. Keep up with hydration, it helps me.

I had similar issues with mouth sores and I used a mouth rinse called Magic Mouthwash. My doctor recommended this, let me know if it works for you.

This is why I chose oral chemotherapy instead of IV. I was afraid I'd be in this situation. Stay strong!

Has anyone tried acupuncture for side effects management? I've heard it helps with nausea and general discomfort. Might be worth a shot.

Feeling you, mouth sores are the worst. I had to switch to a different mouthwash and it helped me get rid of them. Give it a shot!

I wish I had more useful tips, but I found my doctor recommended some mouth sores solutions. If that doesn't help, there are some other things you should think of. First, make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids, and try to avoid anything that could irritate your mouth, like spicy or acidic foods. You could also ask your doctor about pain-relieving gels or rinses. If it gets really bad, you might need to talk to your oncologist about adjusting your treatment plan or adding some other medicine to help manage the side effects. Remember, it's important to be honest with your healthcare team about how you're feeling so they can support you as much as possible. I also found that ginger tea and peppermint oil worked for me. I'm crossing fingers this works for you.
