I've just been prescribed Subsys 600mcg Spray (purple Box) 30s for breakthrough cancer pain, and I've got to be honest, I'm a bit anxious. It's supposed to be really strong, which I need, but I'm scared of the side effects and risks. Has anyone here used this? What was your experience? I'd love to know how to safely manage this, especially since I'm already taking other opioids. Then there's all the paperwork, my doctor says this is a controlled substance, so making sure I follow all the right procedures is a must. Any tips for staying compliant, then safe? How do you manage the other possible side effects? Is there anything I can do to prevent them or mitigate their impact? I'm just hoping I can get some honest feedback from people who've been in this situation and how you've dealt with the difficulties. Looking forward to hearing your experiences and advice!

I get the paper work was awful, but the worst part for me was the anxiety of getting it refilled. It's way more strict than any other pain med I've had.

I think you'll be okay if you follow the doctor's directions and keep your appointments. It's a strong medicine, but it can help.

Hey, I've been on Subsys for a few months. It's intense, but it works. Just be careful and follow your doctor's instructions to the letter. The side effects suck, but they're manageable. I've had some dizziness and constipation, but my doc gave me some meds to help with that.

The tips I got were don’t mix with alcohol or other meds without asking your doctor, but what really got me was how sleep depriving the thing was. I got to where I could barely function unless I was getting enough rest.

I've heard it can be dangerous to mix with certain other meds. Double-check with your doctor before taking anything else.

I tried Subsys and the site irritation was a nightmare. I switched to something else and it was much better. Just something to consider if you have issues.

I had a friend who had serious issues with this stuff. He had all the issues mentioned and it was real scary. So be careful, and make sure to call your doctor with any issues.

I think it's important to keep an eye out for those really serious side effects. Like, I barely noticed it, insomnia and stuff, but breath troubles? That's scary!

Don’t let the site of administration problems get to you. I had a really hard time at the beginning, but it eventually stopped. So don't let the first few rough moments worry you.

Stay hydrated and watch your diet. It helps with some of the side effects. Also, talk to your doctor about a bowel regimen. Trust me, it’ll make a big difference. The paperwork was a pain, but they have to do it. The real trouble comes if you have to travel or whatever. Just make sure your doctor is upfront about what you need to do. They'll know how to get you the right kind of waiver to prevent trouble.
