Suddenly feeling extremely drowsy after starting Mirapex ER 3mg Tablets. Just started with Mirapex ER 3mg Tablets for my Parkinson's disease. I felt alert all day long, but suddenly started feeling drowsy. The package insert says something about sudden sleepiness but I’d like to hear from others who have experienced this on Mirapex ER.
Has anyone else experienced sudden sleepiness after starting Mirapex ER 3mg Tablets, as mentioned in the possible side effects? I started taking these for my Parkinson's disease and while I've been feeling alert all day I've suddenly started feeling extremely drowsy. The package insert warns about sudden sleepiness but I'd like to hear from others who have experienced this. I wasn’t sure if it was just me or a common side effect. I didn’t want to drive but couldn’t figure out why I was feeling this way. A doctor friend of mine said it could be related to my new medication. Has anyone else taken Mirapex ER and had this experience? What did you do about it? The sudden sleep can be scary, but thankfully I’m okay. I’d love to hear from anyone else who has gone through this.

I thought I was just getting old, but then I realized it was the Mirapex ER. It's a bit scary when it first happens, but it gets better. I took a lot of naps and eventually got used to the meds. Make sure to report it to the FDA too. Let’s help them keep track of these side effects.
This is actually a pretty known side effect. I remember several months into my treatment I experienced the sudden drowsiness described. But it went away after a few months.
I remember when I first started Mirapex, I had to be careful not to drive for a while because I felt like I could fall asleep at any moment. I missed some spots on my ceiling for the first time in years.
I have to say, I never experienced this. Had some other weird side effects, but never this one, but it might be worth talking to the pharmacist to see if there are other factors at play.
Just make sure to ask your doctor about sleepiness if you think it will interfere with your daily activities. They might be able to adjust your dosage or suggest something to counteract it. Good luck, hope you feel better soon!
This is super common with Mirapex ER. Just make sure you talk to your doc about it. They might suggest a lower dose or something. Hopefully, you feel better soon!
Just be extra careful when starting these meds. I have a friend who experienced some changes in posture, too. Feeling drowsy is one thing, but he had some severe issues.
I just wanted to chime in and say, when I started Mirapex ER, the doctor told me not to drive for a few days. You are not alone!
