I've recently been prescribed Novolin R U-100 Flexpen Inj 3ml to manage my type 1 diabetes. I've been using a different insulin pen for a while, and I'm curious about the experiences of others who have switched to this particular insulin. How quickly do you find it starts working? Any tips on managing side effects like weight gain or irritation at the injection site? Also, any advice on dosing for someone who's used to another short-acting insulin?

Anyone know if it's normal to have a little bruising at the injection site? I've been noticing some, and I'm not sure if it's something to worry about.

There's a lot of misinformation out there—novolin R is very useful for a lot of diabetics. Be sure to ask your endo about it when you start.

I've had no issues with Novolin R, but my endocrinologist recommended keeping a close eye on the injection sites. Sometimes, they can get thick or lumpy, and that's a sign to switch up your routine.

There's no doubt that Novolin R is powerful, but I wish there was more info on the long-term effects. I've been using it for a year, and while it works well, I'm always a bit nervous about the potential side effects.

The key to Novolin R is consistency. I've found that eating a consistent amount of carbs at each meal helps a lot in preventing blood sugar spikes. Also, keep glucose tablets or juice handy for lows—they can hit you hard and fast.

I've seen some people have issues with the needle size but it's a game changer for those who can handle it. My friend switched and had to deal with low potassium levels, so watch out for that. It can be scary but manageable.
