I've been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease for about 5 years now and have been managing it with traditional medications until recently. My doctor suggested switching to Rytary ER 23.75-95mg Capsules, which is a newer extended-release formula containing both carbidopa and levodopa. Has anyone else made this switch? I'm curious about your experiences with this medication. What side effects did you encounter, if any? How does it compare to regular levodopa/carbidopa combinations? Any tips or advice from those who have been on it for a while? I'm hoping to get some real-world feedback to share with my neurologist.

Great question! I switched to Rytary about 6 months ago and have found it to be much more effective than my previous medication. The extended-release feature really helps in keeping the symptoms in check throughout the day. The only downside is the cost—my insurance doesn't cover the full amount, so it can be a bit expensive. But if you have good coverage, it might be worth it.

I've been on it for 3 months and my 'off' times have improved by a lot. I just wish I had known about the sleepiness issue. I felt so out of it for the first 2 weeks, so be prepared for that. It's worth it in the long run.

I've heard that Rytary can be really helpful for managing symptoms, but the side effects can be weird. My dad was on it for a few months and had some pretty bad hallucinations. It might be worth discussing with your doctor to see if there are any alternatives or adjustments in dosage.

I had some bad dreams at first, which was really weird. But after a few weeks, they stopped. Also, my doc told me to watch out for uncontrollable urges to gamble, but luckily I didn't experience that. Everyone's different, huh?

Seriously, if you start feeling weird, call your doctor. Don't wait. I'm not kidding. My cousin was stubborn and ended up in the ER with a bunch of hallucinations. Scary stuff.
