I've been using Tacrolimus 0.03% Ointment for a few months now to treat my moderate eczema. The doctor recommended it after steroids didn't work out. My skin has been less red and itchy, but I've had some weird side effects like skin tingling and pimples. Has anyone else experienced this stuff? Were these side effects temporary, or did they go away completely? I've been hesitant to stop using it because my skin was a lot worse before this treatment started. I'm wondering if anyone has had similar experiences or knows if these side effects are common. I've read that serious side effects are rare, but I want to be careful.

I don't know if you're A/ Pose a question to the OP, B/ mention an experience, or C/ Just share an opinion, but I've used this for years. There are some nasty side effects, yes, but not as bad as some others. Stick it out. Hope it works out for you

Have you talked to your doctor about switching from Tacrolimus to Protopic? I think they both have the same active ingredient, but I've seen a lot of people claim Protopic has fewer side effects. They have the same active ingredient but help me with eczema. Thankfully, I haven’t had serious issues yet, just pimples. However, I know for a fact that many people report no side effects while using Protopic. If it’s something you’re open to, it might be worth looking into.

Tacrolimus definitely helped my eczema, it was an improvement on steroids. But I had to stop because the skin tingling and pimples were just too much. I switched to a different ointment, and it's been great so far. I think it's worth trying a few different treatments to see what works best for you.

I don't know if you've had any luck anywhere else, but Protopic ointment works well. I think it has a bad rep, but after a few months I don't have any rash either. The worst part was the burning, but it was manageable for me. I was hesitant to try it because of the warnings, but it worked out for me.

Side effects are always a bummer, but I think most people are lucky if they only have to deal with some minor ones. I needed something stronger and I could only deal with steroids for a short term. Everyone is different. Good to stick with it and see if they go away. I think if you're seeing good results, it's worth it.

Did your doctor mention anything about how long it takes to see results?

I had to stop using Tacrolimus because it caused some serious itching and swelling. I was really disappointed because I felt like this was the one solution I had for the skin issues, but it would have been worse if I kept using this
