I've been prescribed Lescol XL 80mg Tablets to help lower my cholesterol levels. According to my doctor it will help reduce my 'bad' cholesterol and increase the removal of it from my blood, which should reduce my risk of heart disease and stroke. I found out that these are statins - I have heard about them before, but never really knew how they work. I have been taking them for about a month now, and I'm noticing some mild side effects like stomach pain and occasional headaches. I'm just not sure whether to stick with them or to switch to a different medication. Has anyone else had similar experiences with Lescol XL? I'd love to hear some personal stories and recommendations. I know some side effects - like muscle pain, tenderness - can be more troublesome. If you have had those issues, how did you deal with them? Has anyone reported side effects to the FDA? Seems like a hassle, but maybe it's worth it.

I'm surprised that your doctor didn't mention the potential for muscle problems if you are over 65. I know the risk of severe muscle damage is associated with lowered thyroid function and other medications.

I had bad experiences with a statin a few years back. I didn’t know what to expect from Lescol XL, and it ended up being way better than the other one. One thing that helped the most was to remember my doctor's advice to be aware of any symptoms linked to the liver.

Remember, everyone's body reacts differently to medications. What works for one person might not work for another. Just keep monitoring your symptoms and stay in close contact with your doctor. Good luck, and I hope you find the right solution.

My friend was on Lescol XL and had to stop because of muscle pain. They switched to a different statin and are doing much better. It's all about finding the right fit for your body.

I switched from a different statin to Lescol XL, and I'm glad I did. The side effects were much less severe, and I haven't had any major issues so far. Keep an eye on any liver-related symptoms, though. My doctor advised me to do regular blood tests to monitor my liver function.

If you're experiencing headaches, maybe it's worth considering taking the tablets with a meal or right before bed. Sometimes, food in the stomach can help with absorption and reduce side effects.

Reporting side effects can actually help others. I reported some issues, and my doctor helped me find a different medication. It's worth the hassle if it means improving your health.
