I've been diagnosed with Non-24-hour sleep-wake disorder, and my doctor prescribed Tasimelteon 20mg capsules. I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects, but I'm hopeful it will help. Has anyone else tried this medication? What was your experience like? The idea that it works like melatonin is reassuring, plus my doctor had a success story to share. I'm hoping to get some sleep without all those awful disruptions. I did have some common cold symptoms with some side effects, but maybe it was just a coincidence. I guess I'm curious if anyone else had the same side effects if you did how long did it take for them to go away. I'm also wondering if anyone has had an allergic reaction to this or if that's just too rare to worry about. I don't want to go to the hospital, but I wouldn't want to miss a rare but severe side effect.

I've heard good things about Tasimelteon, but I'm a bit worried about the UTI symptoms. I've had UTI's before and they are the worst. Best of luck to the OP.

Don't forget that side effects can be managed. My doctor suggested switching up my dose and that seemed to help a lot. My sleep pattern was a joke but this drug has finally changed that.

I really hope this works for you. I've had Non-24 for years and it's been a nightmare. My doctor suggested a drug with a similar chemical structure. It didn't work out. But the doctor explained how it was the drug structure that failed, not my body. So, I'm still hopeful, even with the side effects. Ask your doctor about the different types of sleep meds if you are looking for an alternative.

My wife has Non-24 and tried this. She is not a fan of the drug. She goes on and on about how she hates it but she tried it for a while. I know it's a weird condition but this drug sounds like a good option.

I started taking Tasimelteon a few weeks ago, and I'm already feeling better. I still have some headaches, but the constant exhaustion and confusing bedroom times are so much better. I even made a joke with my friend about my new and unique sleep patterns. He laughed, but I was happy that my sleep was not too out of whack.

Don't worry too much about the side effects. I had a bit of the common cold stuff, but it was just a coincidence. They cleared up after a few weeks. If you have to go to bed in the middle of the afternoon, just do it. Even if your family or friends think you are crazy.

I've been on Tasimelteon for about 6 months now, and it's been a game changer for me. I used to have terrible insomnia and circadian rhythm issues, just like you described. The first few weeks were a bit rough with some bad dreams and headaches, but my doctor warned me about that. Now? Actually sleeping through the night is almost a regular thing. Be patient with the side effects, just don't ignore the serious ones. Always have your doctor's number on speed dial.
