I've been prescribed Tegretol-XR 400mg tablets for my trigeminal neuralgia, and I'm curious about others' experiences with this medication. The possible side effects list is quite extensive, and I'm hoping to hear from those who have managed them well. Does anyone have tips for mitigating the more common side effects like dizziness or upset stomach? Additionally, how common are the more severe side effects, and what should I be particularly vigilant about? Finally, has anyone found Tegretol-XR to be effective for their condition, and what has their overall experience been like? I'm really looking for reassurance and practical advice.

I'm new to this and just started Tegretol-XR. I've only had mild side effects so far, but I'm really nervous about the more serious ones. How likely are they to happen? Any advice on how to cope with the anxiety?

I've heard horror stories about the neuroleptic malignant syndrome. It sounds like a nightmare. I hope that doesn't happen to anyone else.

I know this is a serious topic, but my friend who takes Tegretol-XR jokes that she feels like a zombie sometimes because of the drowsiness. It's funny, but it also highlights how impactful the side effects can be.

I had a really bad reaction to this drug. I ended up with a severe rash and swollen glands, and it was terrifying. Make sure to keep a close eye on any unusual symptoms and report them to your doctor immediately.

I've been on Tegretol-XR for a few years now, and it's been a game-changer for my seizures. My doctor really helped me manage the side effects, especially the dizziness. I found that eating small, frequent meals and staying hydrated helped a lot.

I had no idea about the low sodium levels side effect. That's really concerning. I'm going to keep an eye out for any of those symptoms. Thanks for bringing this up.

I've been on this med for 6 months and it has been a lifesaver. I had a bad reaction when I first started. I had a fever and didn't feel good. My doctor added a second med that helped with the side effects.
