I recently had to take the PEG 3350-KCl-NaCl solution for a colonoscopy and I have to say, it was one of the most unpleasant experiences of my life. I understand it's necessary for the procedure, but oh boy, was it rough. I followed the instructions to the T and drank all of the solution as directed. I had to stay close to the bathroom for about 8 hours and the frequent watery bowel movements were nothing short of miserable. Has anyone else gone through this and found any tips or tricks to make it more bearable? I really want to prepare better next time around.

Definitely! It's a horrible experience for sure but you have to put up with it. The doctors know what they are doing. I know it's hard, but it's the only way to make sure the procedure is successful.

The worst part for me is the inability to sleep well. Same with you? I find that lying on my back is the best position. I've heard that some people try to distract themselves with a movie or something. I'd try that if it wasn't so late. I just wanted to sleep through the night. My experience was as bad as yours. I don't know if it was worth it. I know it's necessary, but I don't know if it's worth it. I really did think that things were going to get better when I actually threw up. I really expected it to be the end of it. But it kept going on. I would try to sleep but then I had to go again.

I can't believe how fast people forget how bad it was and need to do it again! It's just not pleasant!

I've actually heard the opposite. Some say it's better to drink it a bit faster and get the whole thing over with. I felt the same way as you, I would probably try that out next time. Give it a try.

I've had to take this stuff twice now, and it's never fun. I tried drinking it cold and sipping it through a straw, but it still wasn't pleasant. I think the best advice is to just get it over with as quickly as possible. It's only a day of discomfort for a potentially life-saving procedure. It's just not worth it. I would rather go through surgery than drink that stuff again. It's just a nightmare to go through. I would rather go through surgery than drink that stuff again. I'm sorry to hear you had a tough time. The solution might cause dehydration, so it's crucial to drink enough clear fluids. Drinking it in smaller doses was helpful for an acquaintance. Also, keep warm water handy. The solution is a bit salty, so it might help with the taste. Try to keep a positive outlook. It's a temporary discomfort for a good cause.

I can't believe people actually say to drink it fast! I know it's supposed to work fast but drinking it in small amounts makes you think you can tolerate it.

I had a similar experience, but my doctor warned me about side effects. I made sure to keep a close eye out for any signs of dehydration or electrolyte imbalance. I drank plenty of clear liquids and even had some Gatorade to replenish electrolytes. It was still rough, but at least I felt safe. Definitely consult with your doctor and keep yourself safe. Trust your gut.
