I used to take levothyroxine but switched to Tirosint a few months back because of some stomach issues. The switch was seamless and it has been really good for me so far. No major side effects but I do get a bit of sensitivity to heat, especially during workouts.
I switched because of some tongue issues due to the gelatin capsule coating. So now I take the liquid version and it has been great.
I've been on Tirosint for about 6 months and I gotta say, the mood changes were the worst part for me. I felt super anxious and irritable in the beginning but it eventually leveled out.
Anyone else tried liquid Tirosint? I've seen it mentioned but I'm not sure what the benefits are over the capsules.
It is a bit pricey but I got a discount card from the pharmacy and that helped a lot. Even though I'm in the US, the fees are considerably less.
I've had a few people tell me that Tirosint is better absorbed than other thyroid medications, but I haven't found any concrete evidence to back that up. But it's working for me so I'm sticking with it. Anyone have experience with switching from Tirosint to another medication?
I'm using Tirosint for suppressing TSH but I'm not sure it's actually helping. It's a bit frustrating to be taking medication and not knowing exactly if it is working.
My T3 levels are a another story. I've had to consult with an endocrinologist because my levels were too low. It is all very confusing. I am just happy that Tirosint is helping me control things to a point.
I felt like I had to increase my dose a few times, but I guess that's just part of finding the right dosage. I've had some trouble with muscle weakness and cramps but it has been manageable.
