I've been using Triple Antibiotic Ointment 144gm for a few weeks now to treat some minor scrapes and cuts. It seems to be working well, but I've noticed some skin irritation around the applied areas. I'm wondering if this is normal or if I should be concerned. The list of possible side effects is quite long — who has experienced any unusual reactions? How do we know if skin irritance is a sign of allergic reaction? The desperation of severe symptoms is scary, but whats the real likelihood of these reactions when using the ointment as directed? So far I haven't had any reactions, but I'm still worried about potential side effects. Has anyone here had any issues, or perhaps you've been using it for a long time?

I've never had any issues with this ointment. I use it on my kids all the time for minor cuts and scrapes. It works great and I haven't noticed any irritation or allergic reactions.

I think the side effects are overblown. I've used this stuff a ton and never had any problems. I've had some people ask me about this because they were unsure. Use it with caution and be aware of the warning signs.

I've used this ointment for years and never had any issues. It's great for minor cuts and scrapes.

I had a bad experience with this ointment. I used it on a small cut and ended up with a nasty rash all over my leg. I had to go to the doctor and get prescribed some cream to clear it up. I won't be using this ointment again.

Skin irritation can be normal, but it's important to monitor it. If it gets worse or doesn't go away, stop using it and talk to your doctor. The chances of a real allergic reaction are small, but definitely be prepared. The ointment is generally a safe option for minor injuries, but keep an eye out for any unusual symptoms like swelling or difficulty breathing. I've had great results for preventing infections.

I am really glad that I didn't experience any severe reactions and that I can call my mom in the future when I get freaked out over a potential allergic reaction.

I had a pretty severe reaction to this stuff. I broke out in hives all over my body. I had to go to the ER and get treated. I had no idea this was a possibility. I wish I had known about the possible allergic reactions before using it. It was really scary. I would recommend always having benedryl on hand just in case. Now I'm afraid to use any topical ointments.
