I recently had my 16-year-old son vaccinated for meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B bacteria, and he had a serious reaction immediately after receiving the Trumenba 0.5ml Im Pfs (5 Pack) vaccine. He developed a rash, felt dizzy, and had trouble breathing. We rushed him to the hospital, and he was treated for an allergic reaction. I want to know if anyone else has experienced similar reactions and what steps I should take next. Should I report this to the FDA/CDC? Is it safe for him to receive the second dose? What are the risks? I'm really worried about his health and want to make sure he is safe.

Check if there are any support groups for parents dealing with vaccine reactions. They can provide emotional support and practical advice.

I'm so sorry to hear about your son. You should definitely report this to VAERS. They can help track and investigate adverse events related to vaccines. Also, consult with your pediatrician about the next steps. It might not be safe for him to receive the second dose.

This is a good reminder to always read the side effects list. Even if something seems minor, it could be a sign of a more serious reaction. Stay safe and take care of your son.

I work in healthcare, and I can tell you that adverse reactions, though rare, do happen. It's important to be vigilant and report anything out of the ordinary. The FDA/CDC takes these reports seriously and uses them to improve vaccine safety.

My daughter had a mild reaction to Trumenba—just a bit of swelling at the injection site and a low-grade fever. I definitely agree with the others that you should report this. The more data they have, the better they can monitor these vaccines. Hopefully your son is feeling better.

Keep a log of everything that happens. Make it clear to your doctor what happened. Make sure to document any symptoms he has. It might seem like it will be fine but keeping track will be helpful.

My cousin had a bad reaction to a different vaccine, and they ended up switching to an alternative. Maybe talk to your doctor about other options if this one doesn't seem safe for your son.

I had the vaccine and felt fine. But I know everyone is different. Just make sure to keep a close eye on him and trust your instincts if something feels off.
