Truvada is a combination medicine containing two antiviral drugs, emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, used to treat and prevent HIV. It's a game-changer for those at risk, but also a highly debated drug due to potential side effects. Is it worth the risk? Let's discuss.

I've been on Truvada for years and I'm grateful for it. I got a mild case of the flu for a few days after starting, but it was nothing terrible. The peace of mind is priceless, even with the potential risks, but I also know people who have experienced major side effects.

My doctor recommended Truvada as PrEP, but I'm worried about kidney issues. It's also too expensive without insurance. Not sure if the benefits outweigh the risks.

I've been on Truvada for a year now as PrEP and haven't had any issues so far. Worth it for the peace of mind, especially if you're sexually active with multiple partners. But it's important to always get regular check-ups.

I started taking Truvada to treat HIV and it's been a lifesaver. My viral load is undetectable now, but I had some serious side effects at first like nausea and headaches. It's worth discussing with your doctor, and maybe changing to newer alternatives that have reduced toxicity.

I think the biggest issue is people not taking it regularly. Once a day isn't that hard, but people miss doses and then it's not effective. Would be nice if they made a weekly pill or something.
