I've been using Tums Smooth 750mg Chew Berry Tabs for a while now, and they've been a game-changer for my heartburn. The berry flavor is surprisingly good, and they dissolve quickly. I love that they're a calcium source too. But I've been wondering about the side effects. I haven't experienced any yet, but I've heard constipation could be a problem. Has anyone else dealt with that?

I also saw that there are serious side effects to look out for, like allergic reactions. I'm not sure what to do if I notice any symptoms. Should I just stop taking them and see if it goes away, or go to the doctor immediately?

I want to be safe, but I don't want to overreact either. Thoughts?

I've been taking these for years and never had any issues. I think people should just keep taking it unless they have a bad reaction.

I've never had any problems with Tums, but I did have a bad reaction to Pepcid. Go figure. I mean, I'm not saying Tums is for everyone, but it works for me. But I've also heard that drugs that work for a lot of people make people think that they should work for everyone. So I'm not saying that either. Everything is weird and complicated and you just gotta see what works for you, I guess.

I've experienced constipation a few times, but it goes away after a day or two. I think it's a small price to pay for relief from heartburn. Chew a lot of gum to fight it, that's what the doctor told me.

I read that calcium carbonate can actually cause more acid production in some people, which might make heartburn worse over time. I'm not sure how common that is, but it's something to consider. I switched to Mylanta and the acid has gone down. I'm not an expert, I just know what works for me and what the doctors say. I think it's worth looking into. You gotta find what works best for you and stay within your budget too.

I got lucky and these work just fine for me, but the pharmacist said that if I stopped taking them, the calcium levels in my body would drop. Too much can cause other issues. They are vitamin supplements too, and it can be tricky to get the balance right. I'd rather not mess with calcium and just get a different medicine.

Don't forget that Tums can also interfere with other medications. Always check with your doctor first if you're taking other drugs. Some people forget that but it's really important. You don't wanna mix stuff with no thought.

Chew and swallow, don't try to eat these like candy, even if they taste good.

If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, it's best to seek medical attention immediately. Better safe than sorry.

I had a bad reaction to these once. It was scary. My throat started to close up, and I could barely breathe. I had to go to the emergency room. The doctor said it was an allergic reaction. Now I just avoid that kind of medicine. They recommended I use omeprazole instead, which works well for me and has no crazy side effects so far. But remember, my case was really rare. Most people will be fine. Still, your health is no joke. Go to the doctor.
