I've been prescribed Tyvaso DPI 64mcg Inh Pwdrmaint Kit for pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and have started experiencing some side effects. I'm wondering if anyone else has been through this and has any tips for managing them. The drug has been helping with my exercise capacity, but I'm dealing with frequent headaches and some mild flushing. I've also noticed some coughing. I'm curious to hear about other people's experiences and if there are any strategies you've found helpful. I want to make this work for me.

Sounds rough, but hang in there. It gets better. Make sure they know at your clinic you're having these problems. If you want, some people report that keeping a journal of the side effects can help. If I had $20 for every time I had to tell them it's not working. But they really do listen.

For the headaches, have you tried talking to your doctor about adjusting the dosage or timing of when you take it? One friend of mine had terrible headaches. He took a lower dose to start and worked up. Little adjustments can occasionally help.

I was also on Tyvaso. I know this is unpopular, but I had the same experience. There are different delivery systems, but they all kind of suck. I asked about this and some of them were better than others. The ones that were more like an asthma inhaler were better. I barely had any cough.

I had similar side effects when I started on Tyvaso. But I've noticed it's all about getting the delivery device right so you don't cough as much. The trick is to be sure you're using the entire canister. Not doing it properly led to some coughing. Make sure you're exhaling properly and pressing the inhaler. If it's all about that right inhale.

Can confirm Tyvaso is a lifesaver for PAH. I was on oxygen 24/7 before starting it. Now, I can go out without it most days. Just stick with it, and hopefully, the side effects will ease up!

Don't forget to report your side effects to the FDA. The more data they have, the better they can help future patients. Here's the link: https://www.fda.gov/medwatch

Here for the coughing advice. I'm literally trying to get my mom to give up her kit. She coughs so bad and hates it.

I was worried about the bleeding side effects, but my doctor assured me they're rare. Still, it's good to be aware. If it gets too bad, maybe ask for a referral for an acute specialist. They may have some ideas.
