Diatrizoate 66-10% Solution is a specialized liquid contrast dye used for medical imaging, particularly for X-rays of the gastrointestinal tract. This dye helps doctors get a clearer picture of the stomach, intestines, or colon, aiding in the diagnosis of issues like blockages or inflammation. While generally safe, it's important to be aware of the potential side effects, some of which can be serious. I've heard some scary stories about allergic reactions and fluid imbalance, but others say it's usually fine. Has anyone here had experience with this stuff?

I've had a Diatrizoate solution for a CT scan of my intestines. I was kinda scared before but the whole thing went smoothly. No major side effects but I felt a bit of nausea and had a light headache for a few hours. Followup with your doctor if you feel symptoms, you never know

I've had to administer this to a patient. It's not too bad if you mix it with something sweet or carbonated, but they still complained about the taste. I've seen people get stomach cramps but never the more serious side effects.

Speak with a Medical Professional, always. They will know best.

I had a friend who had a really bad reaction to this. She broke out in hives and had trouble breathing. She ended up in the ER, but she's fine now. Scary stuff.

I was curious about the thyroid problems mentioned in the side effects. Anyone know if this is common or just a rare occurence?

I had to drink this stuff for a barium enema and it was the worst thing ever, I felt incredibly nauseous and could barely keep it down. My medical professional told me it was due to the iodine, could be why you see these reactions, just my two cents. Please do not drink it if you are not being forced to by a doctor.

I had to have this for a colonoscopy prep. I really had to mix it with something and I'd say just do that, I'm still scared of having this again.
