I was recently prescribed Unithroid 0.075mg tablets for hypothyroidism. I've heard that this medication is used to replace the thyroid hormone that my body isn't producing enough of, but I'm new to this and have a lot of questions. I want to know if anyone else has experienced some significant side effects like those listed. I'm worried a little about the serious side effects. How common are they really? Also, I've read that hair loss can be temporary. How long did it take for it to resolve? Any advice or shared experiences would be really helpful!

I'm on 0.075mg too, and have been for about a year, with no serious side effects so far. Knock on wood! I do make sure to take it on an empty stomach, because food can affect absorption. The doctor said that was key. I've also noticed that I'm more sensitive to heat, so I make sure to stay hydrated and cool. Becoming a fan of the pool was key.

I'm feeling pretty good on 0.075mg. I hope it stays this way!

I have so many questions about this medication, but I'm afraid that my doctor will rush through my concerns. Anyone have any suggestions on how to have a great conversation about it?

I've been on Unithroid for a few months now and honestly, the hair loss was the worst part. But it did grow back after about 6 months. The first few days I had a hard time as well. Felt like it was a lot to track. I use a pill organizer to make sure I take it every day at the same time. It's just easier that way. I was worried about serious side effects too, but luckily I haven't had any. Just some minor ones like hair loss, a little moodiness, and an upset stomach.
