I've been taking Unithroid 0.1mg (100mcg) tablets for about 6 months now, and while it's helped with my energy levels, I've been experiencing some side effects that I'm not sure are normal. I've read the list of possible side effects online but would love to hear from others who have had similar experiences. I'm particularly concerned about the hair loss mentioned — is this something that goes away on its own, or is it permanent? Also, I've gained a few pounds, which is listed as a side effect but I'm not sure if I should adjust my diet or talk to my doctor about it. I'm also curious about others' experiences with dosage changes and how their doctors have managed side effects. Thanks in advance for any insights!

I've been on Unithroid for a few years and definitely experienced hair loss in the beginning. It was pretty scary, but my doctor assured me it’s temporary. It took about 4 months, but my hair grew back and is now thicker than before. Hang in there!

The muscle cramps have been the worst. Literally wake up in the middle of the night with them.

Just be patient, it can take a while to find the right dose. Also, if you feel jittery or anxious, it might be too high.

At one point, I went through a crap ton of different doses. My doctor kept adjusting based on blood tests. It was frustrating, but we eventually found the right balance. I felt much better after that.

I had a friend who almost didn't make it because of some severe allergies to the medicine. Any rash, hives, or trouble breathing, just get to the ER immediately

I started on a higher dosage of Unithroid (0.15mg), but it was too much for me. My doctor lowered it to 0.125mg and I felt much better, so it’s worth discussing with your doc if you think it’s too strong.

I felt like a complete zombie on Unithroid. Not sure if it was the thyroid regulating or just the meds being too strong, but it made me want to sleep all day. Tried switching to a different brand, things got better.

Make sure you take your Unithroid on an empty stomach, at least 30-60 minutes before eating. Food can interfere with absorption, making it less effective.

Weight gain is common when starting this medication, but it should stabilize after a few months. Make sure you're still eating right and exercising. If it persists longer than a few months, definitely talk to a doctor.

Yep, I felt like I was going to pass out from a headache when I first started. This wasn’t fun.
