I was prescribed Nitrofurantoin Mono/mac 100mg Caps for a UTI and I've been having some pretty scary symptoms. I've read that it can cause severe side effects, but I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced anything similar. I'm talking about things like severe stomach pain, difficulty breathing, and even signs of lupus. Has anyone else had these issues, or am I just being paranoid? I've been taking it with food as prescribed, but I'm really worried about these symptoms. Should I be more concerned about the liver problems or the nerve issues? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm also curious if anyone has experienced any less severe side effects like hair loss or changes in urine color. I had some nerve issues from this and it wasn't a fun experience. It took months for it to go away and it affected my hands and feet. Definitely something to be aware of.
I've had a few UTIs and my doctor always prescribes this. I've never had any major issues, but I do take it with food like they say. I wonder if it's just the ones who don't follow directions that get the side effects.
Y'all are scaring me. I just started this a few days ago and I've had a bit of a headache and some nausea, but nothing too bad. Should I be worried or just wait it out? I'm really hoping I don't end up with any of these scary symptoms.
I reported the side effects to the FDA. They said they take it seriously and will look into it. If you're having issues, definitely do the same.
I've been on it a few times and never had any major issues. Just some stomach upset and dizziness. But I did have a friend who got really bad diarrhea and ended up in the hospital. Seems like it affects everyone differently.
I had a really bad reaction to this stuff. Started with a rash and then I couldn't breathe properly. Went to the ER and they told me it was an allergic reaction. Scariest thing ever. Be careful, man.
You know, I think some of these side effects are worse than a UTI. If it becomes too much, it might be worth asking your doctor about alternatives.
Honestly, I think the doctor should have warned you about these side effects. I had no idea it could cause such serious problems. I'm going to mention this to my doctor next time I see them.
