I recently had an IV with Dextrose 5% Inj, 25ml and experienced some alarming symptoms afterwards. I want to know if anyone else has had similar issues. The infusion was supposed to raise my blood sugar levels, but I started feeling severe dizziness and noticed some skin discoloration. I'm worried about the potential for fluid and electrolyte problems. Has anyone else had these issues? I need to know if this is a common side effect or if I should be looking out for a rare allergic reaction. I have been feeling very tired and weak and I'm not sure if it is related to the IV or something else. I have been considering reporting this to the FDA, and I am wondering if anyone else is on the same page.

I had no issues with Dextrose 5% but the nurse had to change my IV because the first one was irritating my skin. I would be really careful if you are having weird reactions and tell your doctor ASAP.

I didn't know Dextrose 5% could be this dangerous. Why isn't this more widely known? I'm going to inform my friends and family about this. I had no clue that it could cause these issues.

I've only had minor side effects. I have been really confused about my next step. I think I should contact the FDA to report any potential rare side effects

Just had Dextrose 5% and nothing happened. No allergic reaction. No irritations at the site. But I am definitely paying attention in the future. I had no clue it could be this complicated.
