Hey everyone, I had a procedure done recently where they used Xylocaine-Mpf 1.5% Inj, 5ml. It's basically lidocaine and it's used to numb specific areas during minor medical procedures. I was reading about the possible side effects and some of them are pretty scary. I'm mostly concerned about the allergic reactions and methemoglobinemia. Has anyone else had any issues with this drug? I wanna know what to look out for. Thanks!

I had a spinal injection with this stuff and had some issues with urinary problems. It was frustrating, but thankfully, it went away after a few days. Just something to be aware of. Also, the difficulty getting an erection was an issue. Haven't had a chance to ask a doctor about it yet, this thread might help me decide, good info.

Make sure to ask your doctor about any pre-existing conditions or medications you're on. Sometimes interactions can cause issues. I know someone who had to switch to a different anesthetic because of this.

I've worked in a medical setting and seen some people have reactions to lidocaine. It's rare, but it happens. Always good to be aware of the signs. Especially the breathing issues or any changes in skin color. That's a big red flag.

I've had this before and it was fine. Just make sure you're not allergic to it. That's the main thing. If you are, it can get bad, fast.

Seriously, if you start feeling any of those severe symptoms, don't wait it out. Go to the hospital. Better safe than sorry, right? My neighbor had a really bad reaction to something and almost died because he waited too long.

Methemoglobinemia sounds really scary. I had no clue what that was until I looked it up. If you start turning blue, definitely go to the ER. Not something to mess around with.

This might be a stupid question, but can you get an allergic reaction to lidocaine even if you've used it before without any issues?

Allergic reactions are no joke! I once saw someone have a severe reaction. Their face swelled up like a balloon and they could barely breathe. It was terrifying. I would take any unusual symptoms seriously and contact a doctor immediately.

I had to report side effects to the FDA once. It was really easy. You can do it online or over the phone. I had a weird reaction to a different drug and wanted to make sure it was documented.

OMG, I had a dental procedure and they used a similar stuff. Felt like my tongue was gonna fall off it was so numb! I had the tingling sensations mentioned but no serious issues. I guess I was lucky.
