I started Valrubicin 40mg/ml Solution for my bladder cancer and I'm curious about others' experiences, especially with side effects. My doctor explained that it's given directly into the bladder, which is different from other treatments I've had. I understand the urgent side effects like allergic reactions and blood in the urine, but I'm more concerned about the other possible side effects, like bladder irritation and frequent urination. Has anyone experienced these and how did you manage them? Also, I'm worried about the duration of the red-colored urine. I've heard it's normal for up to 24 hours, but what if it lasts longer? I want to be prepared for anything. Anyone have tips or advice?

I experienced some loss of bladder control but it's manageable with practice. it's like learning to use the bathroom again.

I had some bladder irritation but it went away after a few days. Definitely drink lots of water to flush it out.

I had a friend who had blood in their urine for a couple of days, which was a bit concerning but turned out to be fine. Make sure to report anything unusual to your doctor.

What about long-term side effects? I'm wondering if anyone has had any lingering issues after treatment.

Make sure you follow your doctor’s advice to the letter on taking care of your body during this time. I had a few issues with painful urination but my doctor recommended a specific diet and it helped a lot. The whole thing is very manageable with the right precautions.

Did anyone else have trouble with the catheter insertion? That was the worst part for me.

Honestly, the whole process is a bit of a hassle, but it's worth it if it works. I had frequent urination but it was manageable. Just be prepared for some discomfort.

I had a severe allergic reaction to this medication after the second dose. You need to be really careful especially with all of the signs of an allergic reaction. Frequent urination and burning when urinating are normal but be alert if it doesn't get better quickly or if you notice the signs of an allergic reaction. Definitely worth mentioning to your doctor or seeking medical attention if you have any of the symptoms.

Just keep in mind that these side effects are manageable, especially compared to other treatments. I've had worse with other medications.

I had some stomach pain and upset stomach, but it was more of an inconvenience than anything. Just make sure to eat light and avoid anything that might irritate your stomach. Also remember that the red-colored urine is normal and shouldn't worry you.
