Vancomycin 250mg Capsules are a powerful antibiotic used to treat severe diarrhea caused by Clostridioides difficile (C. diff). Unlike other antibiotics, Vancomycin mostly stays in the gut, targeting harmful bacteria directly. While effective, it comes with a list of potentially serious side effects. I've been prescribed Vancomycin for a recurring C. diff infection. I'm worried about the side effects, especially the severe ones. Has anyone else had experience with this medication? What should I expect, and how can I manage the side effects? Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone asked their doctors about alternative treatments? I've heard probiotics can help with C. diff.

I was on Vancomycin for a month and didn't experience any major side effects. Just kept an eye on my urine output and listened to my body.

DIY stool softener with Prune juice also helps to eliminate the pain.

I've been on Vancomycin for a while now, and it's done wonders for my C. diff. Just make sure to watch for signs of kidney problems or hearing issues. I had to switch to a different antibiotic due to some persistent hearing issues but overall good experience. (upvote if useful)

I think the key is to finish the full course of antibiotics. Although it’s not easy to finish with the hops, if you do not finish, there is a high chance that you will not get over the C. diff infection.

I had a friend who ended up in the hospital with severe skin reactions. It's scary stuff. Listen to your doctor and stay alert for any unusual symptoms.
