I was recently prescribed Vibativ (Telavancin) for a severe MRSA infection. I had to receive this through an IV infusion, which was a bit intimidating at first. The medication works by attacking bacteria in two ways: stopping them from building their cell walls and damaging their outer protective layer. My doctor assured me that this is more effective against resistant bacteria like MRSA. However, I want to know more about the serious side effects. Have any of you experienced kidney issues, abdominal problems, or heart irregularities? What did you do to manage these symptoms? Also, what's the deal with foamy urine? Does anyone have any insights on that? Any advice would be appreciated.

I've had Vibativ a few times and the side effects were mild. I just had some changes in taste and a bit of diarrhea, but nothing too severe. Just make sure to stay hydrated and keep an eye on your urine color.

I was worried about the foamy urine. It turns out it's just a normal side effect of the medication, but it's still a little freaky to see. I always ask the nurse what is normal and what to look out for.

I had a really bad reaction to Vibativ. I started sweating and I had this flushing feeling. When I went to the ER, they stopped the infusion and gave me some meds.

I was really nervous about the possibility of kidney problems. My nurse kept checking my urine output and gave me plenty of fluids.

This is the best antibiotic to fight MRSA but you have to get your dose right, otherwise you will be screwed. I have a friend who got it wrong and ended up in the hospital with life-threatening bowel problems. It was scary to watch.

I'm currently on my third round of Vibativ for an MRSA infection. The infusion makes me feel weird, but my doctor says my heart is fine and my kidneys are holding up. Just have to live through the diarrhea, but it's worth it. Good luck, everyone!

I've had a prolonged QT interval with Vibativ, and it's a scary thing. I was experiencing a fast heartbeat and feeling like I was about to pass out. Definitely something to be aware of and immediate medical attention is needed.

My sister had a bad case of MRSA and had to take Vibativ. She got some kind of allergic reaction where her face, neck, and arms broke out in a rash during the infusion. Doctors had to stop the infusion, and she had to go to the ER.

Oof, Vibativ sounds...intense. But I trust my doctor, so if they prescribe it, I'm just gonna have to deal with it. Hope the side effects aren't too bad.
