I've been prescribed Vigabatrin 500mg for my complex partial seizures and I'm curious to hear from others who have used this medication. What has your experience been like? Have you encountered any serious side effects? The list is quite daunting, especially the mention of potential nerve damage. I'm also interested in hearing if anyone has managed to wean off this medication successfully. How did you do it, and what was the process like? Finally, I've read that it might increase the risk of suicidal thoughts. Has anyone here experienced this, and if so, how was it managed?

I'm looking for some real talk and support, so let's discuss!

I know this is serious, but sometimes I joke with my partner that I should just wear a helmet 24/7 because of the balance issues. It’s either laugh or cry, right?

I'm new to this. I just started Vigabatrin and it’s been a rough ride. Anyone have tips for dealing with the dizziness and drowsiness?

This drug saved my son from infantile spasms. It was scary at first, but his doctor monitored him closely and he's doing great now. My advice: trust your neurologist and stay in close contact with them.

I had to switch because of the mood changes. It was just too much to handle on top of everything else. I'm on something else now, feeling much better.

Does anyone know if the nerve problems go away if you stop taking Vigabatrin? I'm really worried about that one.

I was on Vigabatrin for a few years. The side effects were tough—constant dizziness and weight gain. I eventually switched to another medication, but it was a long process to find the right one.

Vigabatrin is a tough one. I'm currently on it, and the dizziness is the worst. For now I just use this stuff called ginger oil and it helps bring down the dizziness, but it's not a long-term solution. Anyone have tips to combat this?
