Visken 10mg Tablets: A beta-blocker with unique effects. Should you try it for high blood pressure or angina (heart pain)?
I'm new to blood pressure and angina medications, and my cardiologist recently prescribed Visken 10mg Tablets to me. It's a beta-blocker called Pindolol that works by relaxing blood vessels, and slowing down the heart rate. Seems like it has a mild stimulating effect on the heart which could help with side effects that would slow your heart rate too much. I've heard that it can have some side effects, especially the more serious ones, but I'm not sure how common they are. What do you think about this medication and my situation?

How long have you been dealing with high blood pressure and angina? I know it can be a tough journey, so just focus on the positive and hang in the there. You got this!
Be careful with this med. I had a friend who experienced severe dizziness and fainting. It was scary and he had to stop taking it.
I read that Visken also has mild stimulating effects on the heart. How does that work and what does that mean for those who have have high blood pressure and angina?
Seriously consider other options. My dad was on Visken and had terrible shortness of breath and swelling after just a couple of days.
I've been on Visken for a few months now and I've only experienced minor side effects like sleep disturbances and dizziness. But my blood pressure is controlled finally and I haven't had any chest pain, so I'm sticking with it. I really hate the fatigue though. Make sure you talk to your doc about those concerns, though.
Feeling nervous and excitable? That's not a normal side effect for this stuff. I'd get that checked out.
Don't forget to report any side effects to the FDA. It's important for them to track these things. Their website has an easy form: https://www.fda.gov/medwatch.
I don't recommend Visken. My doctor told me about a guy who suffered from significant weight gain and swelling in the arms or legs. Sounds horrible.
